BBC under fresh scrutiny after it’s claimed Russell Brand exposed himself to a woman and laughed

Last night the woman, known as Olivia, told how she let Brand and his team into the shared office building, where she worked for a different firm. She said she then went to the bathroom to get medication when she felt someone behind her, and turned to see Brand. He told her: “Oh, I think you’re a bit of all right”, and said he would call her Betty. She said that was not her name, but claimed he replied: “Well, I’m gonna f*** you.” Olivia told him: “No, you’re not,” before Brand is said to have pulled out his penis on to his hand and “served it to me as you would be serving someone some food”. Olivia said the door was shut, and she felt trapped and alone. She claimed someone eventually banged on it, and she left in disbelief. After she texted a BBC worker in the office about the incident, she was told that Brand was already openly discussing it in the studio. In the episode, which went out in June 2008, co-host Matt Morgan says: “It’s been 25 ­minutes since he showed his willy to a lady.” Brand replies: “Very easy to judge! Very easy to judge!” Morgan adds: “He got told off for ringing a bell, minutes later he’s showing his willy.” Brand can be heard laughing in the background. Olivia, who tracked down the recording after last weekend’s bombshell claims about the comedian and actor, said she was disgusted when she heard it. She added: “What made the BBC think that was appropriate to go out like that?” The incident was reported to the BBC in 2019 by a staff member who had spoken to Olivia. But she said nobody approached her directly and no formal action was taken. Last night the BBC, already investigating Brand, said: “We would be very keen to hear from her and anyone else who may have information.” Brand later quit the BBC after leaving obscene messages for actor Andrew Sachs. The 48-year-old already faces claims from multiple women. He did not respond to the latest but has denied “serious criminal allegations”. ITV boss Carolyn McCall yesterday predicted more “abuses of power” will emerge.
