A tribute to those who caused ‘overdevelopment’ in Boca Raton….patting themselves on the back with accolades while we, the residents, have to put up with the ‘intended’ consequences!

Thanks the Universe for the people who care enough to try to make a positive difference. There will always be the self- absorbed greedy money-monger, so we absolutely need the checks and balances. Once we lose green space to over- building, getting it back may be virtually impossible. That scares me and others who want and to retain a healthy balance with nature. How some can feel differently is anathema to wanting a beautiful and desirable City to live in.
I believe boca raton has changed too much from a quaint city to a city overrun by buildings. It’s s shame we have lost so much.
I’ve lived in Boca since 1997. It’s lost ALL of its charm to bldgs that don’t fit in and obvious greed. I just bought a house further north in Fla because I can’t stand the crowds and traffic that were so unnecessary all due to the mindless greedy city officials who allowed it to happen
Way too much building. Not enough parking spaces
Jessica Gray,
Saw this post from 2017 and thought that you really got the concept of the Boca Raton Mayors Ball all wrong. “A tribute to those who caused ‘overdevelopment’ in Boca Raton….patting themselves on the back with accolades while we, the residents, have to put up with the ‘intended’ consequences!” This is not the Mayor’s Ball its the Mayors Ball honoring those in the community that contributes to making Boca a great place to live work and play. The Mayors of this city have been stewards and have contributed to making Boca the enviable city that it is. That said, the event is a theme and recognizes the history of Boca Raton by naming the award after the first Mayor George Long presented to those in the community who continue to place Boca in a positive light. May I suggest you read up on the mission of Rotary International and the Rotary Club Downtown Boca Raton to give you a better idea of what the Health and Wellness mission is and how the Rotary Downtown Boca Raton contributes to the local community.
