Drinking the Kool-Aid

Publisher’s Comment:

What flavor was the Kool-Aid at the City Council meeting where the City Manager and City Attorney were evaluated?

What could not have been more obvious was the ’empty chair’ on the dais.  An ’empty chair’ caused directly by the actions of the City Attorney with the full knowledge of the City Manager.  An ’empty chair’ causing the need for this special election to replace a former mayor now facing criminal prosecution.  An ’empty chair’ resulting from a lack of leadership by all but one of the current elected officials…and, these same elected officials continue to demonstrate a propensity to avoid the obvious.  In their public comments, three (3) council members eluded to factual misrepresentations in community commentary, no doubt referring to BocaWatch.  This council has never bothered to ascertain the underlying facts.  How they know what may or may not be factual misrepresentation is an open question.  No evidentary hearing has every been held in City Chambers or any place else for that matter.  No person has been called to testify or been questioned under oath in an official action by the CRA or the City Council.  No effort has been taken by these elected officials to determine what the ‘facts’ actually are.  Yet, all these elected officials graded the Manager and Attorney with excellence.  Give me a break!

Residents are encouraged to review the City Manager and City Attorney’s performance review.  Boca TV has this archived.  The City Council meeting was June 12th; the Manager’s review begins at the 2:25:30 mark and ends at the 2:39:10 mark.  The City Attorney’s review begins at the 2:40:45 mark and ends at the 2:49:05 mark.  Take the time; review their words and actions; formulate your own judgement.

Actual corruption may have been uncovered in the last year. but intellectual corruption remains under the surface.  Change is needed especially change at the top!
