Ghost orchid proposed for protection as endangered species

The elusive ghost orchid, which rarely reveals its slender white petals, lives on trees in remote forests and swamps. Only 1,500 or so remain in South Florida, a decrease of up to 50%, states a petition from three environmental groups to the petition to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
